Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental and/or medical school. Our doctors enjoy keeping up-to-date with the comprehensive and advancing field of oral and maxillofacial surgery through study clubs, conferences, and numerous continuing education courses. The surgical team at Sunset Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is made up of experienced certified oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants. They are trained in assisting with IV sedation and general anesthesia, which allows many routine procedures to be safely completed within our state-of-the-art office setting. Complex procedures are treated at the Center for Specialty Surgery (a sophisticated surgery center that is located next door to our office) or at one of the several local area hospitals our doctors have privileges at. All of our team members, including our administrative staff, are CPR-certified and regularly complete courses in medical emergency training and OSHA safety regulations.
