About Summit County Government
Summit County Public Access Defibrillation Project, now known as 'Keep the Beat Summit', began in 2004. Summit County Ambulance Service, in conjunction with Summit County Sheriff's Office, applied for and received grant funding provided by the US Department of Health and Human Services to place Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in our community. Over the three-year life of the grant, the Keep the Beat Summit project was able to deploy more then 180 AEDs throughout our community and trained more than 1,000 lay-rescuers in CPR and AED use. The Keep the Beat Summit project continues on today! This web site serves as a reference for project participants as well as a description of the program we have developed.
