Strategic Process Control Technologies

Strategic Process Control Technologies was established based on the previous experiences of our two owners working in the pharmaceutical field. They saw an immediate need for the types of services that help companies and manufacturers use advanced technologies to their advantage. Jim Drennen received his bachelor's degree in pharmacy from Duquesne... University in 1985. He received a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Kentucky in 1990 under the direction of Dr. Rob Lodder. He joined the faculty of Duquesne University in 1996 as an assistant professor of pharmaceutics. Jim was appointed to Chair, Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutics, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Mylan School of Pharmacy in 1999, and later became Head of the Division of Pharmaceutical Sciences. In January of 2007, Dr. Drennen was appointed Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs for the Mylan School of Pharmacy at Duquesne University. Jim has served as co-founder and Director of the Duquesne University Center for Pharmaceutical Technology since December of 2002. Jim has been involved with process analytical technologies, especially NIR spectroscopy, since 1988. He currently leads a research team at the DCPT investigating industrial applications of PAT. Carl Anderson received his bachelor's degree in chemistry from California State University, Fullerton in 1990. He received a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin in 1995 under the direction of Professor Alan J. Bard. He joined the company currently known as Sanofi-Aventis Pharmaceuticals in 1995 and worked there until 2002. During that time, he was responsible for the development, validation, and implementation of near-infrared (NIR) and other spectroscopic/rapid analytical methods.
