Steve Knight

Steve Knight has a storied history that includes service to his country, protecting conservative values, and demonstrating true leadership in the community. Knight works on behalf of the residents in California's 21st State Senate District in order to bring relief to California's ailing economy, attract investment and spur job creation for our resi... dents, and maintain public safety to ensure our families safety. A Southern California native, Steve Knight attended Palmdale High School where his dedication to the community and calling to serve began. After graduation, Knight joined the U.S. Army completing his training in Fort Knox, Kentucky and was later stationed in Friedberg, Germany. After completing his military service, Knight became a Police Officer with the City of Los Angeles, where he served on the front lines for over 18 years. In 1995, Knight was hand-selected to join the Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums (CRASH) team to combat street gangs. In 2005, Steve Knight felt compelled to follow his Father's path and serve the community on a different level. Knight sent a conservative shockwave through the Palmdale community by receiving the most votes in his election to City Council. As a political newcomer Knight kept a strict policy against tax increases and wasteful government spending. A strong advocate for Jessica's Law, Steve has been instrumental in the development of many innovative crime-fighting programs for the City of Palmdale. Knight was elected to the State Assembly in 2008, succeeding Sharon Runner, who stepped down under term limits. As a Member of the Assembly, Knight served on the Committees for Local Government, Utilities and Commerce, Rules, and was Vice Chair on both the Natural Resources and Public Safety Committees.
