STEM4Everyone is a national 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation whose goal is to inspire everyone to STEM, specifically focussing on pre school, elementary, and middle school students. It all started when my little cousin was extremely curious when the older kids in my family (including me), were making science presentations to educate each other during... summer holidays for fun. He was just 4 years old and wanted a presentation of his own! I quickly showed him an animated game that had great visuals for food chains. The concept of an animal higher in the chain preying on a lower one intrigued him. He immediately caught on, and boldly presented the game, going step by step, and working through all the examples. This raises a question- why wait to teach science until kids get older? The earlier they are exposed to math, science and technology, the better. Young minds can grasp things better. Also if they get early exposure to STEM, they can learn more advanced STEM topics as they grow up, and raise their academic standards. Most STEM programs out there are pushing students in College, High School and maybe Middle School towards STEM. There is not much focus on STEM for Elementary and Pre school kids. Our organization wants to target this age group for STEM. Whereas, for older students, there are science textbooks and numerous resources, but for the younger children, resources are limited, even if available, they are all over the place. One of our goals is to provide links to reliable STEM Web sites for this target group. We also want to provide lesson recommendations to education policy makers to make STEM education related changes in the pre school and elementary school curricula.Read More
