Ghazi Abdullah Abbar & Sons Company with long experience in food importing, distribut... ion, and manufacturing, which owns the Star Markets chain, emerges as one of the pioneers in the supermarket industry in the Kingdom. Sixty-Five years ago, the first Star Grocery was opened at Makkah Road Kilo – 2 in Jeddah. “It was the first self-service grocery in the Kingdom. We were the first to introduce the self-service grocery concept in the Kingdom, which is known today by the term ‘supermarket”. Abbar & Sons Company was the pioneer to establish the first Self Service Supermarket in Jeddah located in KM. No. 2 under the trading name of “Star Grocery”. Presently the Company runs six outlets in Jeddah and an equal number in Yanbu city. Star management has plans to open more outlets in the various cities/regions of the Kingdom in the near future.
