Standpoint Gallery

Standpoint Gallery is a leading artist-run gallery and studios in London. It does not represent artists, but curates shows from submission and invitation, concentrating on emerging/mid-career artists from the UK and internationally. All projects are developed in collaboration with selected artists and aim to provide a platform for innovative new wo... rk and ideas. Standpoint is a recognised centre of excellence for artist-led activity and debate - with a programme of public exhibitions, talks and discussions that aims to promote diverse experimentation and analysis in all areas of contemporary practice. The Mark Tanner Sculpture Award is unique in its offer of £8,000 direct to the artist towards the production of new work, which is then displayed in a solo show. The recipient is selected from an open call by a panel, guest selectors have included Richard Deacon, Lisa Le Feuvre and Cornelia Parker. In celebration of the award's first decade in 2013, Black Dog published the large format book 'Thinking is Making: presence and absence in contemporary sculpture', and Standpoint opened the award to artists from the whole of mainland UK. Standpoint Futures visual art development residencies offer intensive input to the practice and career of talented emerging/mid career artists from across the UK. These residencies are delivered in partnership with prestigious artist-centred organisations from across the UK and are supported by Arts Council England, Arts Council Wales, Creative Scotland and the Fenton Arts Trust.Read More
