St. Philip's Lutheran School offers students the opportunity to stay after school in a Study Hall setting Monday through Thursday after the school day is over. Teachers are present and available to work with students should they need assistance in completing their work. Students who have chronic problems completing work because of educational or ac... ademic gaps that may exist may be encouraged to participate in Title One services. Title One services are provided at St. Philip's Lutheran School by a federally funded outside educational provider. The Title One Program is part of the "No Child Left Behind Legislation" passed by Congress in 2001. Missing and late school work is a concern shared by faculty and families alike. Work that is not turned in on time creates problems for teachers and students. It frustrates parents and guardians who are trying to help their children. It quickly can become a bad habit, and people who are regularly late or don't turn in needed items suffer throughout life. We do not want that to happen! St. Philip's Lutheran School will work to avoid missing or late work. Faculty will contact parents or guardians to make them aware of this situation as soon as it starts to develop. Faculty and parents/guardians will arrange for After School Study Halls to provide time from 3:30 until 4:30 p.m. for that child to complete this work. In addition, missing or late work will be noted on weekly school progress reports. If such efforts do not resolve the problem, and if five (5) or more assignments are late or missing at the time of Wednesday Newsletters going home, the student responsible for that work will serve time after school in Academic Recovery the next day. This Academic Recovery shall be held in a faculty member's classroom on Thursday afternoons from 3:35 through 5:30 p.m., with all missing or late school work to be given to that student's teacher by the next Friday morning.
