St Michael Parish

The Religious Education program at St. Michael Parish offers children a strong background in their Catholic faith. It provides the young people the opportunity to experience the Good News of Jesus Christ in worship, service, prayer and evangelization. While we understand that parents are the primary catechists for their children, St. Michael's Reli... gious Education staff and volunteers strive to support our families in creating a strong, faith-based foundation on which our children can fall back as they grow and face life's joys and challenges. Our classes meet on Sunday mornings, before and after the 10 am Mass, as well as Sunday evenings for Grades 6 - 10. We also offer Monday afternoon classes for several grades, which meet from 4:30 - 5:30 pm. Students in our Monday afternoon classes are still required to attend Mass each weekend, either at one of our three services, or at a service at another nearby parish. There are many local Mass times to choose from to accommodate your busy schedule. For our younger grades (K-1 and 3-6), we use the "We Believe" program provided by Sadlier Religion. This program empowers students to uphold their faith and go out into the world as Catholics-proud of who they are. It helps build their Catholic identity around core Catholic beliefs, practices, and principles so that they may truly embody their faith. Our 2nd graders enjoy Loyola Press's "God's Gift: Eucharist" and "God's Gift: Reconciliation" workbooks. The prayer opportunities, beautiful artwork, and interactive activities found throughout this sacramental program enables catechists to work with children and their families to help them prepare for their First Penance and First Holy Communion. Our older students (Grades 7 and 8) use the "Pflaum Gospel Weeklies" program, a method of teaching which integrates Religious Ed instruction with the life of the parish community.
