At St Mary's, we aim to provide a happy, healthy, safe, supportive and stimulating environment, promoting achievement for all and celebrating success. I am particularly proud of the work being done in all classes to promote the 5C's, which reinforces the Gospel message to "treat others as you would like to be treated". All staff work together to pr... ovide an education which is both enjoyable and challenging and which meets the needs of all of our pupils. Over the past few years schools across Scotland have been implementing Curriculum for Excellence and we will continue to develop our curriculum working closely with Midlothian Council. St Mary's RC Primary is at the heart of a thriving Community in Bonnyrigg and enjoys good links with the Catholic Church of Our Lady with our Parish Priest Canon Hugh White, who is a regular visitor to the school. This year our Parent Council have plans to maintain the fund raising achieved last session and to organise some fun events for the children. If you would like to get involved then contact your class rep on the parent council. There are regular newsletters home from the Parent Council too, so look out for these in your child's book bag. We have many Parent Helpers in the school and if you can spare any time for whatever purpose, I would be delighted to have a chat with you. Please don't hesitate to introduce yourself to me either in the playground, or any time you are visiting the school. This year we aim to be embedding learning outdoors into the work we do, and to further develop our cooperative learning opportunities across the curriculum. We will be reviewing again the way we issue and communicate homework to you and hope to improve partnership working with parents and the wider community. We have developed a comprehensive transition programme with St David's High School and we welcome S6 pupils on a Wednesday afternoon to support learning with our children at St Mary's.
