St Lawrence School

Our school serves the Parish communities of Balcatta -Gwelup. Spiritually is developed in many ways here at St Lawrence. Our Religious Education curriculum, Masses and Liturgies throughout the school year and the Making Jesus Real (MJR) program all come together to help us build and enhance our spirituality. We join with the Parish to run the Sacra... mental Program and this incorporates workshops, information nights and retreats. We have daily prayer to help our students to come closer to God and learn how to give thanks and seek intersessions. Socially students are able to feel safe and secure at St Lawrence through our high levels of pastoral care. Again this is supported by Making Jesus Real (MJR) program whereby students of all grades form MJR groups and meet each term to interact and talk about ways we can be more like Jesus. The students use different social scenarios whereby the students think about what Jesus would do and then apply these actions in their lives. We run a Protective Behaviours unit through our Health program. This helps provide our students with strategies to keep themselves safe in today's society. In all aspects of the life of our school, child safety procedures are paramount importance. Here at St Lawrence, we value every child and aim to create an environment which enables all children to experience joy and fulfilment throughout their primary school years. Research indicates that today's youth will have as many as 30 jobs in their lifetime, including five different career pathways, many of which have yet to be identified. It is with this understanding that we take a future-focused approach to learning, balanced alongside tried and true methods of teaching.
