St Andrew Methodist Church

St. Andrew is a congregation actively engaged in the traditions of Gospel Centered Sermons, Gospel Music, Christian Hospitality, Service to the Community and Outreach Mission Work. United Methodists are all around the world sharing the love of God for each and every person. We are a congregation with Open Hearts, Open Minds, and Open Doors. In 1960... Barth Place Church was forced to find a new church location due to the plans of the widening of Raymond Street, so 5 acres was purchased at 2560 S. Villa Avenue. In 1964 construction was completed which included an education building consisting of 15 rooms, office facilities and an auditorium. Struggling to raise the necessary funds, this church agreed to unite with the Shelby Street Methodist Church. The merger came about on June 1st, 1966 and the combined congregations voted to select the name "St Andrew Methodist Church". In 1968 the Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren merged and created the "United Methodist Church". The membership of St. Andrew at the time was 566. From the beginning St Andrew has offered nurturing and support to the neighborhood and it's children. In 1982 St Andrew began a morning only preschool for 3 and 4 year olds which became the Rainbow Ark Preschool.Read More
