Sri Mandir is the first Hindu temple in Australia. It is situated at 286 Cumberland Road, Auburn in SYDNEY (AUSTRALIA). Established in 1977 to meet the religious, social and cultural needs of our rapidly growing Hindu community. The temple continues to promote our rich Hindu culture, philosophy and religion; it has always been a place of worship &... place to enrich our culture. This is a tradition we as a community have dutifully guarded so that it may be passed down to our future generations. Sri Mandir at Auburn in Sydney has the distinction of being the oldest Hindu temple in Australia whose membership comprise of people with a wide variety of social and cultural backgrounds. The main objective of Sri Mandir is to promote the propagation of Hindu culture and philosophy among not only the wide Indian community at large but also more importantly provide the Hindu exposure to the westerners and young Indians of Australia growing up in this country. In 2001, a new building was erected. It has a mix of contemporary and classic design. It has its main deities as "Radha Krishna".
