Spreadd

Spreadd creates opportunities for interaction between people that possibly don't even know each other, within an organization. This opportunity happens because there is some commonality among those people: a common goal, a shared interest, a similar task, etc. Everyone we talk with comes up with a different use case for these opportunities, and tha... t's great because it only confirms that our model is a good fit to everybody in the company, regardless of their position, expertise level or even personal characteristics like introversion and proactivity. Interestingly enough, one of the few rules that seems to consistently apply to successful social applications is that people must be able to use them in ways that were unforeseen by the software designers. For example, the twitter designers didn't envision any mechanism to categorize tweets, so their users came up with the use of #hashtags for that purpose therefore creating a whole new use case for twitter: trending topics. We ourselves were already surprised by some interesting possibilities suggested by people we've been talking with and the good thing is that most of them are already possible in the tool, even though we hadn't thought of them. However, this also presents a challenge to us, when explaining what Spreadd is. People want to hear a use case, a specific problem solved by our application, but the fact is that there a various problems that can be solved with it, not just one. So, we'll start talking about some of these use cases on this blog, but for now, we'll focus on the problem of a novice who needs help completing a task. The novice is not incompetent but she lacks the experience to perform the task as well as the company would like her to. However, if we're talking of a medium or large company, there is a strong possibility that someone has already done something similar in the past.
