About Sport Waitakere
We aim to increase participation in sport and recreation and improve the capability of sport/recreation providers (such as clubs, schools and community organisations) in West Auckland, for the benefit of our community. We work within the boundaries of Auckland Council's three local boards - Whau, Waitakere Ranges and Henderson /Massey. We work in a complex environment. At any one time, we can have 60+ projects on the go across all aspects of sport and recreation! We are one of 17 Regional Sports Trusts (RST) set up throughout NZ to help get more kiwis, more active, more often. We work closely with Sport NZ on agreed objectives but with an absolute focus on Waitakere's local community sport and recreation needs. We have been serving our community since 1991 and are governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees.Explore more
