Who is Spline Curves

Spline Curves specializes in designing and manufacturing of Aluminum extrusions. We chose to specialize in Aluminum extrusions because of its unique properties: High strength-to-weight ratio: Strength-to-weight ratio (also known as: specific strength) is the ratio of material's strength divided by its density. It is the an important to take into account while designing products. For instance, materials like stainless steel (304) are significantly stronger than aluminum alloy 6063-T6, however stainless steel is approximately 3X heavier than Aluminum-6063-T6. Therefore if Aluminum-6063-T6 is used as a replacement in extrusion products, they will be three times lighter than their steel counterparts. The table below compares the strength-to-weight ratio of a few materials. (The data has been derived from matweb.com.) Picture Recyclability: Aluminum is 100% recyclable and it has a higher recovery value than steel. As per IBIS Associates research, for a 50 MW project, the recycled value of aluminum is 3X that of steel. This shown in the table below for 50 MW solar (photovoltaic) cell project: Picture (Source: http://www.alumil.com/files/1/Products/solar/FAQ/Aluminium%20Extrusions.pdf ) Therefore, aluminum structures will have a higher residual value than steel. In addition, aluminum can be recycled over and over without any change to its properties. This makes it a very environmentally friendly material. Corrosion resistance: Aluminum alloys provide superior corrosion protection. This is because when Aluminum is exposed to air, it quickly oxidizes and forms a tough protective layer. This layer acts as a barrier to moisture and air for the layer beneath. It is due to this property, Aluminum alloys are most preferred for products that need corrosion resistance. However, few considerations have to be kept in mind while designing aluminum profiles. For instance, care should be taken to prevent water stagnation in construction materials. This can be easily done by making holes or avoiding angles in which water can ...Read more
