Spinney Lodge strives to give your pet the very best health care based on modern training ,techniques and equipment. Our vets are selected for their general skills but each has an area of special interest providing a large range of skills. These include Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Diagnostic Imaging, Exotics and Emergency Medicine.... One of our vets is an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Orthopaedics and four other vets are currently studying for Advanced Practitioner status. We are a Veterinary Nurse Training Centre and train nurses to the standards required to become a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Registered Veterinary Nurse. We currently have eleven qualified nurses and three trainees. The origins of the practice date back to the early 1900s when the practice was the only practice in Northampton and situated in Derngate in the town centre. Dealing with all species it was a traditional mixed practice where most of the clients were farmers with draught horses and farm livestock. In 1974, the practice re-located to the Kettering Road site where following extensive development became the first and still to this date, the only Veterinary Hospital approved by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons situated in Northampton. In the early 1990s the practice opened a branch surgery at the Abbey Centre in East Hunsbury which was followed by the purpose built Wootton Fields Veterinary Surgery opening in 2004.
