Southfield School

Southfield is primary school with places for up to 72 children. Children can join us at any time during the school year, and at any age from four to eleven. Our pupils have a wide range of abilities and strengths. They also have a range of special needs and our school caters for pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Disorder... s and Speech Language and Communication difficulties. In order to meet the needs of our pupils, we work closely with parents and carers. We also work together with a number of other services, including Educational Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Hearing and Visual Impairment Advisors, Behaviour and Attendance Support, School Nursing Service, Parent Support and School Family Workers. Our school is situated in south Hatfield on Woods Avenue, and our pupils come mainly from Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, St Albans, Harpenden, London Colney, Potters Bar, Borehamwood and the area around Cheshunt. Hertfordshire County Council is the admissions authority for the school. The current building opened in September 2013, and was purpose built to meet the needs of our children. The attractive modern building provides a calm and safe environment for our pupils. The Early Years department has three interconnecting teaching areas, and a separate teaching room for small group work. All of the classrooms have direct access to outdoor covered learning and play areas. The six KS1 and 2 classrooms share a library area, two large multi-purpose teaching areas and a number of small group teaching spaces. The classrooms have access to covered outdoor learning and play spaces and a large playground. We also have a dedicated soft play room, sensory room, sensory circuit room and food technology room.
