Soul Garden

You don't do the growing for plants. You tend their terrain and they grow themselves. They have the innate ability and knowing to create themselves with the right soil and nutrients. Our bodies, souls, and visions are the same. They are living, full of energy, and contain codes of knowing how to grow on their own already, like the oak still inside... an acorn. It's not your job to "do the growing" for yourself, rather, tend the soil of your life. What nutrients are you putting into your body? What self-talk? Who are the people around you? What sights, smells, spaces are you surrounding yourself with? Are these things tending your soil, helping you feel loved, seen, confident, healthy, accepted, worthy.... or are they draining your soil, helping you feel worthless, alone, dis-eased, rejection, shame? What is that soil helping to produce more of in your life? What tweaks can you make to your own terrain today, whether that's an inner thought, a physical practice, or a relationship decision that increases how nourished you feel? The more you are innately surrounded by what helps you come alive, the more alive you will come. Your body will heal itself, your soul will reveal itself, and your vision will grow itself, naturally. Because those are the codes inside you, like the oak in an acorn, waiting to be watered to life. And this is our work to do together. Soul-work is hard work. We may love our gardens with a deep and abiding passion, experience moments of inspiration, satisfaction and intense joy, but our gardens also force us to face the dark side. We can never be perfect gardeners with perfect gardens; nature will not allow us to completely have our own way. No matter how much we mulch, the weeds will grow; when a beloved tree or exotic plant dies from frost we are bound to feel sorrow. Gardening teaches us to be humble, to tolerate imperfection and loss; it trains us in self-acceptance.
