Established in 2004. Soul Arts Academy is a New York City based dance school. We value excellent technique training in a holistic, artistic, mindful learning environment. Founder and Creative Director Rosie Lanziero has developed an approach to arts education that truly focuses on each child's holistic development. In every class at Soul Arts, stud... ents not only learn the movement vocabulary, technique and history of a particular dance genre, they are also encouraged to discover their artistic potential individually and communally in a supportive, non-competative environment. From the school's core curriculum - ballet, modern, composition and hip-hop. All classes at Soul Arts combine technical prowess with artistic freedom. Athletic and graceful physicality, critical thinking, teamwork and a large dose of FUN are all important parts of the recipe that make each Soul Arts classes unique and empowering. After being inspired in 2004 by the birth of her own daughter, Lanziero sought to find an immersive creative arts program that involved children in the learning process. Not finding one, Lanziero was moved to begin her own program, a single dance class that she taught at the Houston Street Center. Since then, Lanziero has grown the program in a rented space on Lafayette Street to over 200 students in 20 classes, and a full staff of top-tier instructors. In February 2012, Soul Arts Academy will launch its brand new SoHo studio location at 552 Broadway.
