This year's event will focus on honoring the founding members of the SHC, as well as looking ahead. "Homelessness prevention is the company's growing edge," explained Alston-Follansbee, adding "for as little as $1,000 the company can help prevent a family from experiencing the trauma of becoming homeless. Over 4,300 families are currently homeless in Massachusetts. "The company is fortunate to have support like this, and from so many others; the company couldn't do the company's work without all the support the company receive," concluded Alston-Follansbee. Founded in 1985, the organization operates two shelters, one for single adults, another for families; provides case management and supportive housing services to help homeless people access and maintain affordable housing; manages the Project SOUP food pantry and meals program; and has added homelessness prevention services over the last decade.
