The facility encourages voluntary admission of a client upon application of parent, guardian, or self. Parents or guardians will be counseled, prior to admission on the advantages or disadvantages and the temporary nature of the residential services available. Prior to admission, parents or guardians will be requested and prospective clients will b... e encouraged to visit the facility and living unit in which it is likely that the prospective client may be placed. Parents or guardians will be encouraged to become involved in planning and decision making on behalf of the clients. Parents or guardians may request the release of a client at any time at which time the Interdisciplinary Team will meet to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of discharge with the parent/guardian. This facility does not discriminate as far as admission screening, client care, and personnel employed and policies with regard to age, race, creed, sex, religion, and national origin. All training and education services of the residential programs will deliberately attempt to facilitate the intellectual, sensorimotor, and affective development of every client. The residential facilities of SOMA Resources, Inc. are training facilities operating under the direction of Toni McDonald. We have a client population bed capacity of 36 beds ranging from 8-85 years. Our philosophy is of the belief that the rights of clients are the same as those of all other citizens. The primary aim of the facility is to develop high quality programs and facilities which are capable of delivering services to the mentally disabled client, to foster in him/her those behaviors which will contribute to the maximum independent functioning of that client, which will increase the complexities of the behaviors he/she is able to manifest, and which will enhance his/her environment or society.
