SoChem

The Society of Chemical Engineers, or as we love to call it SoChem, are a group of enthusiasts, efficient under multiple disciplines, that work as a prominent organisation, centred around the Department of Chemical Engineering and Technology, IIT(BHU) Varanasi. The inception of SoChem dates back to as early as 1945. It is a big deal. The society co... mprises of adroit chemical engineers across all years. The Society functions as a platform for mutual interaction, learning, understanding and for the amelioration of all. Through this methodical and coherent platform of a Society, any and all students can work upon themselves to improve their technical and soft skills alike. The Society also focuses and works upon contacting and bringing back the experience of our revered and esteemed Alumni for the welfare and betterment of students. The Society organises a profusion of activities across a multitude of topics, ranging from Group Discussions(GD) and Case Study sessions for the soft skill development of students to organising workshops on important tools that are used in Core Chemical Engineering such as MATLAB for technical skill development. It also organises placement sessions which helps the prospect engineers decide their further course of action by providing them insights about both Core and Non-Core Profiles, which consists of Coding, Consultancy, Banking and the like. Research opportunities are also laid special emphasis upon by the society, for which it organises workshops for efficient preparation of various competitive exams such as CAT, GRE, GMAT and GATE. Last but definitely not the least, SoChem is responsible in organising the annual fest of the Chemical Engineering Department, OSMOZE. This fest brings out the best amongst the students, with events ranging from probing wit to innovation to optimisation to concepts that are utilised in the industry.
