Smartshares Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of New Zealand Exchange Ltd (NZX). Smartshares Limited is the pioneer of ETFs in New Zealand, launching the first ETF (TENZ - the NZSX 10 Fund) in 1996. As at 30 June 2010, smartFONZ had over 2,800 unitholders and over NZ$68 million in funds under management. SmartOZZY has nearly 3,500 unit holders with a value of $92m with the total value of all funds under management at $291m. Smartshares Limited now manages five ETFs, marketed under the Smartshares brand. They include SmartFONZ (NZX 50 Portfolio Index Fund), SmartTENZ (NZX 10 Index Fund), SmartMIDZ (NZX MidCap Index Fund), SmartMOZY (NZX Australian MidCap Index Fund) and SmartOZZY (NZX 20 Australian Leaders Index Fund).
