About Slanted Door
an idea to open a Vietnamese crpe stand or noodle shop in the Tenderloin neighborhood. After the hotel owner explained that there were already too many Vietnamese restaurants in the area, we moved our search to our own neighborhood: the Mission. The Slanted Door was born in 1995 with the goal of elevating Vietnamese food to the next levelmodern design, sustainable local ingredients, quality teas, and wine pairings. We moved to South of Market in 2002 which was one of the first restaurants in San Francisco to feature craft cocktails. We moved again to the San Francisco Ferry Building in 2004. The Slanted Door Group has expanded to a few different concepts, including a bourbon bar, and a few locations beyond San Francisco including Berkeley, San Ramon, and Napa (coming soon).Explore more
