Skiing in a backcountry involves skiing in the mountains further away from the pre-arranged slopes. Such surfaces aren't maintained or supervised by the emergency services. This type of backcountry skiing is very similar to cross-country skiing. Basic goal is to cover as much ground as you could. The second type of backcountry skiing is Mountain Skiing. They do not use ski lifts.
