Skaters Academy is an inline skating company founded in 2006, originated from anenterpriZe projectfrom Ngee Ann Polytechnic with a seed fund of $2000, it ventured and became an Academy with a cliental base of over 5000 students till date since its modest inception. It all started when the founder Ernest Ong,who was then in his first academic year i... n Ngee Ann Polytechnic in 2006. He was elected president of Ngee Ann Skate Club and driven by his strong passion for inline skating and business acumen, he established Skaters Academy. Being only a student at 18 years old, he encountered a capital shortfall in setting up a skating business that needed substantial funds. Ernest leveraged on his business network then, by entering into an equipment consignment partnership with an established retail store owner. He subsequently went knocking on doors and distributing flyers to make his services known to the public. Finally, his hard work paid off, he got his first skating student only after a month. Sales started to trickle in and a student became 5 and then to 10 he then gathered a few of his interested friends to join him. Ernest went ahead with a presentation of his business model to a panel of lecturers in Ngee Ann Polytechnic and clinched a humble $2,000 seed fund that was utilized entirely on marketing.
