The wonder of junk food was bestowed upon us, convenience became king, and our food became increasingly complicated; and not in a good way . Between preservatives, sweeteners, food dyes , flavor enhancers, stabilizers, anti-caking agents and other assorted mystery substances, factory-made foods have introduced a whole new food group to our diet: chemical additives. In fact, the FDA keeps a database called Everything Added to Food in the United States (EAFUS) -- it lists over 3,000 food additives. Why do we need 3,000 additives in our food?
