Dr. Simmons' goal is to provide a very high level of care in a compassionate and thoughtful manner for each patient. He is ably assisted by two highly experienced and capable physician assistants. Dr. Simmons has published extensively in the field of spinal surgical techniques and is a leader in the field, with 25 years' experience. He is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo and has been Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery since 1991 and by The Royal College of Surgeons of Canada since 1987. He has published over 40 peer review papers in international journals and has authored 24 surgical textbook chapters. He has made over 250 presentations at national and international spine surgery meetings and is on the editorial board of several major spine journals, such as SPINE and Journal of Spinal Disorders and Techniques. He is listed in "Best Doctors in America". Dr. Simmons attended the University of Toronto, graduating with a B. Sc. degree in 1977, and then attended McGill University in Montreal, graduating with M.D. and C.M. degrees in 1981. Following this, he completed six years of orthopaedic surgical residency at the University of Toronto, during which time he also obtained an M. Sc. degree.
