About Shirley Ranch
The Shirley Ranch is a family owned and operated ranch. It was established in 1963 with the purchase of 300 acres. The ranch has grown to 2600 acres of pristine hill country, a sportsman's paradise. We are located in historic Johnson City, Texas. Hometown of Lyndon B. Johnson - 36th U.S. President, conveniently located within an hour's drive from Austin and San Antonio. From 1977 - 1989 it was common to see Thoroughbred horses in the stables at the ranch. The first race horse owned was "Si Cima" who was born in 1975 and first raced in 1977 where she went on to win several races until she retired and became one of our brood mares. We had a total of 120 Thoroughbred horses go through out our stables over the 12 years. Shirley Ranch began its current cattle operation in 1983 and over the years has strived to produce a very uniform herd of Certified Black Angus Cattle.
