The charity was formed in 1982 in the village of Shaw in Wiltshire to support local disabled people to find employment. Since then Shaw Trust has grown in reach and now supports over 50,000 people a year to live independent and inc... lusive lives. The company operates charitable social enterprises, retail shops and work alongside Shaw Education Trust, which runs a diverse chain of academy schools. With over 3,500 staff and a network of over 1,000 volunteers, Shaw Trust delivers its services on behalf of a range of commissioners including the Department for Work and Pensions, the National Offender Management Service, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, and local authorities. The newly formed Shaw Trust Group comprises of Shaw Trust including its partners the Disabled Living Foundation, CDG-WISE Ability, Forth Sector, Shaw Education Trust, Ixion and the Prospects Group.
