Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the science of human behavior, using experimentally derived principles of behavior to provide social significant changes in the lives of others. ABA is an evidence based treatment for a wide range of behaviors and disorders that has been proven to be effective. At Shapin... g Futures, we specialize in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with developmental disabilities. Our primary focus is with behavior management, social skills development, communication and language development, and the acquisition of developmental skills. We use a variety of teaching strategies, such as early intensive behavior intervention (EIBI), discrete trial teaching (DTT) and natural environment teaching (NET) to produce socially significant changes in behavior. Direct therapy is guided by individual treatment programs based on various assessments. Direct therapy services are designed to provide precision teaching of targeted skills across home, school, clinic, and community settings. Parent training and Support services are available to ensure the childs learning and success in an ABA program is being optimized. The trainings include areas such as implementation of a behavior intervention plan (BIP), behavior management strategies (i.e., use of reinforcement procedures), toilet training, functional language development, and sleep problems. Behavior management services include improving the childs unwanted behavior in home, school, and the community. A functional behavioral assessment (FBA) will be conducted first to identify the why, how, why, where, and when of your childs unwanted behavior (see above for more information on a FBA). Once the reasons are hypothesized, a behavior intervention plan (BIP) is developed with goals and strategies to reduce the unwanted behavior.
