SF Nelson

SF Nelson is a community organization that provides free support for families, whanau and carers of people with a major mental illness. We provide information, resources, education, advocacy, social and educational support groups, referral to other services, and newsletters. The family whanau support workers can provide families with information ab... out mental illnesses, treatment options, accommodation, medications, the mental health act, and consumer, family and whanau rights or can simply provide a listening ear. Our family whanau support workers can arrange to meet with you at our offices, in your home or another convenient place, and they are available for support on the phone. The family whanau support workers also facilitate regular monthly Carers peer support groups. Our service extends from Murchison to Motueka and Golden Bay, Richmond to Nelson and as far as Rai Valley. SF Nelson Supporting Families in Mental Illness is a branch of Supporting Families NZ, formally called Schizophrenia Fellowship (N.Z.) Inc. which was formed in 1977.
