Sensory Matters

Sensory Matters is proudly an Australian, family owned and run business, who develop, design, locally manufacture and sell activities and toys designed to be beneficial in many areas of a child's development. These include fine and gross motor skills, kinaesthetic awareness, core body stability, proprioception, balance, focus and concentration, co-... ordination, motor planning, turn taking, tactile discrimination, bilateral movement . The product range has been developed and refined over the past 6 years, with new products being developed constantly for use by neurotypical children, as well as children and adults with special needs. With the exception of Kinetic Sand, all products are 100% designed and hand made by Julie Baker and her team of work at home mums (WAHMs) in Australia. The owner of Sensory Matters, Julie Baker, previously worked as an Occupational Therapist, before beginning the Sensory Matters business and product range while raising her 3 beautiful children. Julie's enjoyment of developing developmental activities, sewing and her previous experiences as an OT have combined to create the Sensory Matters business and unique product range. Julie is passionate about using sensory, tactile and educational activities to assist a child's development through fun activities, and this passion can be seen in her product range as well as her frequent product presentations at a range of developmental and learning conferences, in-services and expos around Australia. She has also run Sensory Integration workshops for mainstream Early Years Educators, and can be found at the Flemington Craft Market in Melbourne (usually on the 3rd Sunday of every month) with her products.
