Semisweet

Formed over the summer 2016, when lead singer Josh Jones moved to town from Chicago, Semisweet is a 4-piece indie-soul band hailing from San Diego, California. Semisweet is a new band with an old soul in more ways than one. Jones attempts to live his life in a slow 6/8, drawing a lot of his influence from the 60s soul traditions of Sam Cooke, Wilso... n Pickett, and Otis Redding. But Semisweet is not really a throwback band. Lead guitarist Greg Irwin, guitar/keys and general utility man Austin Reitz are veterans of the San Diego music scene bringing Rock, Psychedelia, and even Classical influences to the project. Holding down the rhythm section, Jay Lauterwasser and Emmett Ramirez, are both musician's musicians with wide ranging influences from Captain Beefheart to The Minutemen. Semisweet just finished recording a 7-inch record at Audio Design Studios with engineer Jordan Andreen. The record was recorded direct to tape and kept analog all the way through to vinyl.
