Sema Hadithi

We have to do more than discover our history and preserve our history. We have to tell it. We must manifest the spirits of our ancestors through our words, to tell their stories. The Mission of Sema Hadithi is to discover, preserve and tell the stories of the people of African descent throughout the world. We do that through collaboration with inte... rested parties such as universities, academics, historians, historical societies, genealogical societies, government agencies, local churches, museums, exhibitors and interested corporate entities. We also work on cooperative projects with individual families in the form of family history research as contracted research professionals. We share research and discoveries through annual conferences, presentations and lectures, publications, exhibits, and by sharing newsletters, emails, video service, blogs, and social media. Our logo is representative of the entire African Diaspora. The Adinkra symbol Gye Nyame "except for God" recognizes Father God, the supremacy of God over all Things. Asase Ye Duru "the earth has no weight", expresses the providence and divinity of Mother Earth. The circular bangle encompasses the whole of the community. 56 nations of Africa and the children to the African diaspora spread around the world. The tree with it's deep roots and expansive branches represent the Griot of the oral tradition, reminding us to tell the story of our beloved ancestors, for our roots go deep and our boughs spread wide.Read More
