Security Center

Located in the heart of the New Orleans Central Business District, the fortress-like Security Center was originally built as a Federal Reserve Bank. The building entrance, and access to the main vault area, are monitored by remote TV cameras and state-of-the-art sensing devices. Protected by three foot thick walls of steel and reinforced concrete,... the only access to our vault is through a 38-ton solid steel door and the entire building has been rated AAA fire and wind resistive by the Property Insurance Association of Louisiana. Born in Duluth, MN, David Oreck attended the University of Minnesota before serving for over two years as a certified pilot, navigator, and bombardier of B-29 bombers in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Following the war, he began his career as a wholesale distributor for RCA, working with the company for 17 years before eventually reaching the level of general sales manager. In 1963, he acquired an abandoned design for an upright vacuum cleaner from Whirlpool and a failing RCA distribution facility in New Orleans, LA. and started the Oreck Corporation, manufacturers of vacuum cleaners, floor machines, air purifiers and small appliances. David Oreck established The Security Center over 35 years ago to help protect Families, Businesses and personnel property, and it remains the only security monitoring company fully operated in New Orleans, LA today.
