About SCP Centre

The SCP Centre is a 174,000 square feet building which includes an office building, warehouse space and industrial commercial space. It was built in seven stages from 1950 through to 1979, by US company Amerock. Amerock was a hardware business that manufactured brass switchplates, fittings, handles and a variety of metal products for the Canadian market. In the early 1980s when the Canada/US Free Trade agreement was signed, Amerock closed down its Meaford manufacturing and shut down its Canadian operations. Terry and Maureen Scott bought the building in 1999 to expand their clay pot manufacturing business. Scott Clay Products set up in a small section of the factory, and rented 100,000 sq.ft. to the Meaford Factory Outlet, a popular retail store that sold factory end runs and liquidations and was a well known destination for bargain hunters in Southern Ontario.
