SHS was founded in 2008, recognizing an opportunity to fill a niche in California and Nevada to the convenience store class of trade. Scott Hoag, founder of SHS spent the previous 14 years as a part and eventually a partner of a top Southern California Brokerage house until going his own way. Before his Broker career he spent 8 years on a route ser... vicing convenience stores, markets and some of the Wal-Marts with the Keebler Cookie Company. Our customer base now consist of 275 Wholesalers, Jobber, Distributors and Cash and Carry houses that sell to the convenience store trade. The wholesalers and distributors also cover the small independent grocery stores, colleges, schools, liquor stores, military exchanges, prison stores, little leagues, etc. The customer base starts with AA Cash and Carry in El Monte and ends with XYZ Distributing in Los Angeles. In between you will find Core-Marks, Jetro, MGM Grand, Harrah's, Smart n Final, Derosa, Downey Wholesale, MTC, McLane's, Pitco, Trepco, and many more. SHS Brokerage calls on all of the group buying offices and works programs back to the wholesalers including Tesoro/AM-PM, Circle K, Chevron, Woody's, Rebel, Terrible Herbst, G&M Oil, Carioca, Express Stop, Vintners', Nella Oil and many more that most brokers have never heard of. We now work with over 75 large and small retail groups with buying locations throughout California, Nevada and Arizona. With our expertise in some major categories such as Meat Snacks and Health Bars we have been chosen by many of the retailers to be the table captains of their sets. Our Food Service Division was set up at the end of 2011 because of the high demand and need for SHS to get into this category. As soon as it was formed Sara Lee/Hillshire brand joined the team. After our first year we were up 168%. We have formed a Food Service only team to focus on this category so it gets the attention it deserves.
