About SCJFD Gallery
Established in 2016, Short Creek Joint Fire District serves the residents of Adena, Smithfield, Smithfield Township, and outlying areas in Jefferson and Harrison counties. It became evident that the need for paid fire and ems services in our township, as volunteer memberships declined, with increasing call volume. Thus, the fire district was born. Short Creek Fire District serves approximately 3500 people in 40 square miles and runs on average 600 calls a year. SCJFD is a full time fire department with 2 firefighter/ emt's staffing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year out of 2 firehouses with volunteers and mutual aid covering second calls and other emergencies. SCJFD is contracted to provide a multitude of services ranging from medical emergencies, structure fires, rescue operations, hazardous materials, and more.
