About Schomburg Gallery
Ms. Schomburg comes from an art family. Her grandfather was the legendary illustrator Alex Schomburg whose work graced the covers of Marvel Comics Captain America as well as books by Isaac Asimov and Arthur C. Clarke. Alex was the first artist hired by Stanley Kubrick to work on 2001: A Space Odyssey. In her first year of business, Schomburg came out of the starting blocks quickly. Schomburg's April 2002 show of Domenic Cretara's paintings of the OJ Simpson murder trial attracted television news coverage for the opening -- a rare occurrence for an art opening. Schomburg Gallery was also featured on national Russian television for an exhibition of historic and contemporary Russian oil paintings. With the Francis & Francis exhibition in June 2002, Schomburg Gallery presented the worldwide debut for Augustus Francis, son of renowned Abstract Expressionist Sam Francis.
