to reduce denture loss had been ineffective, and the facility administrator was tired of spending thousands of dollars on replacements and convincing resident families that dad's dentures had not been stolen ("there's no market for stolen dentures!"). We started a research project with the goal of developing a wireless solution that would reduce, o... r better yet, eliminate denture loss in nursing homes and other senior care facilities. After 18 months of tireless research, antenna design, and testing, Scandent was born. Since the launch of Scandent, the system has been expanded to prevent the loss of residents' hearing aids, eyeglasses, wallets, laptops, cell phones, and clothing. It is also being used to protect facility equipment such as wheelchairs, thermal pads, and electronics from loss and theft. Most recently, we developed wristbands for wandering and elopement prevention so that nursing facilities can protect their property, their residents' personal items, and ensure the safey of their wandering residents all with one easy-to-use system. Scandent is now deployed in over 25 nursing facilities across the United States, from New York to Colorado, and from Maine to Michigan.
