Save Our Shores

For over 30 years, Save Our Shores has been leading efforts to protect and preserve the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Today, we continue these efforts through our three core initiatives: Plastic Pollution, Clean Boating, and Ocean Awareness. These initiatives guide the rest of our programs and campaigns to help us achieve our overall miss... ion of caring for the marine environment through ocean awareness, advocacy, and citizen action. We've been busy advocating in the community for local bans on single-use plastic bags and polystyrene containers, tackling cigarette butt litter, and protecting our most valuable resource here on the Central Coast - the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. You'll find our staff and volunteers hosting beach and river cleanups all throughout the year, running the Adopt-a-Beach program, educating youth about our local watersheds in the classroom and in the field, and informing boaters about Clean Boating practices through our DockWalker program. We also provide the community with a new class of educated and inspired Sanctuary Stewards each year, who are the core volunteer force of Save Our Shores.Read More
