About Sasi
SASI was started in 2015 by two Mount Sinai, NY moms both who have children with autism. Because we couldnt find many resources in our area we decided to try and form a little support group (famous last words). We put a single posting on Facebook on December 1, 2015 and wondered if anyone would show up. Twelve moms came that night and in the short time since then SASI has evolved into more than we could have imagined. We connect with these families because we live what they live and understand both the struggles as well as the beautiful things associated with autism. We are now a 501c3 non-profit that serves the needs of the autism community throughout Long Island with over 1,500 member families and growing each day.
