When looking for restaurants to fill the Mequon Public Market, developer Cindy Shaffer thought of Crave Bar & Food, one of her favorite Mequon restaurants. When Shaffer reached out to Crave owner Spiro Asimakopolous about the idea, he saw an opportunity to offer something new: authentic Greek cuisine. To Asimakopolous, it only seemed natural that h... e, a Greek-American born in Milwaukee, offer a taste from the Mediterranean. "We grew up with this food," he said. "There really aren't many places in the North Shore area where you can find it." Whereas Crave offers West Coast-inspired burgers, sandwiches and salads, his new restaurant, called Santorini Grill, will feature gyros, shish kebab, lamb, pastitsio (Greek lasagna), and other Greek favorites.
