Sandboxx, one of the Top 25 Veteran-Founded Startups in America according to Forbes, was recently selected as Apple's App of the Day. It uses digital media and other online tools to help keep military service members connected with their families and friends. The company's founding concept was to bring old-fashioned letter writing back in style - with a twist. American military recruits have no access to technology for weeks while in basic training. The Sandboxx app's flagship feature allows users to type letters from a phone or computer to send to such recruits. These letters are then converted into physical mail and shipped to military bases the next day. Recruits also can opt into Sandboxx's Pen Pal Program, which matches them with employees looking for a way to support current service members. This allows recruits who don't have family or friends regularly writing to them to receive letters.
