Every mid-August to mid-September, Salerno's in Stratford has a pizza special we call: Plum Tomato Pie. It has become legendary. It's hard to believe that such a cozy place like Salerno's could become this frenzied beehive for a month. It's difficult to explain this taste treat. Carlo Salerno has resurrected his grandparents' family recipes and serves homemade (made from scratch, as did his Nonna) Pastas...such as Cavatelli, Gnocchi, Manicotti, Lasagna....along with homemade sauces and gravies such as Marinara, Basil Pesto, White Clam, Alfredo to name a few.
