Sailing Center Chesapeake

Our practices involve more than just sailing! High school sailing first started in Southern Maryland in 1999, through the efforts of Stovy Brown and the non-profit Southern Maryland Sailing Foundation , a 501(c)3 organization. In 2009, we moved south into St. Marys County while expanding our fleet of FJs and creating the SMSFs operational body, Sai... ling Center Chesapeake. Sailing Center Chesapeake is still supported by SMSF, which funds the high-capital equipment involved in sailing. We currently operate out of Tall Timbers Marina , thanks to the kind patronage of the marina owner. We strongly believe in providing our communitys youth the opportunity to experience the waterways surrounding their home. Sailing Center Chesapeake is located at Tall Timbers Marina in Tall Timbers, MD. We are situated between Herring Creek and the Potomac River. Most of our sailing programs take place in Herring Creek, which provides good sailing conditions in a protected area. We also have the option of sailing in the Potomac River when sailing conditions are more favorable there. Our location provides excellent sailing opportunities regardless of the weather!
