Sacred River Henna

See the Pricing page for more details. The way Sacred River uses henna is as a form of b... ody art. It is a natural skin dye that comes from the Henna Plant. It has been used for at least 6000 years with its first recorded uses in ancient India and Egypt. It was commonly used to decorate women during ceremonies or to prepare a woman for marriage. Henna is applied to the skin in a paste form and left to dry until the skin staining is complete. A light stain can be achieved after a few minutes, but the longer the henna is on the skin the darker and longer lasting the stain will be and most people will leave it on for at least 1-3 hours. Once the staining is complete the dried henna paste simply flakes off and should be disposed of to avoid unwanted staining to porous materials (like clothing). Henna usually stays on the skin anywhere from 7-21 days (occasionally longer), depending on the person's complexion and aftercare. It should also be noted that a small percentage of people are allergic to henna and it can cause skin irritation, if you are concerned but still interested in getting a henna tattoo we can do a small test area.
