Saaya-Shadow of Hope

We are a grass-root NGO working for the empowerment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Our story starts in 2014 when devastating flood resulted in massive destruction of houses, educational institutions, infrastructure and lives in Kashmir valley. This led to joining of hands of likeminded students and volunteers for rebuilding Kashmir. This small... and un-named group later led to the formation of SAAYA Shadow of Hope. Its main purpose included achieving literacy and to work for education, to provide free legal-aid, and to provide healthy standard of life. The other objectives included to work for maintaining of social harmony; for overall development of society and development of tourism development in J&K; to set up and run training centres to uplift the educational and economic standards of deprived sections of society and to eliminate the prevailing bad custom, illiteracy, fanaticism etc; to run welfare centres for de-addiction; welfare of senior citizens, physically and mentally handicapped person; to work for development of traditional agricultural and social forestry; to impact training to socially and economically backward communities, tribes, women etc; to make every possible effort to control/manage the situation arising out of any natural calamity etc. Today, SAAYA is the best foundation in Kashmir and one of the best social welfare service providers across the J&K running on non-commercial, non-political, and non-communal basis, serving round-the-clock without any discrimination of color, class, and creed. Our advisory board consists of some of the famous luminaries from different fields and backgrounds. The advisory board plays a mentorship role for SAAYA. The aim to have an advisory board was to have people of knowledge, experience amongst us to guide us in our causes and working.
